The Work at Height Regulations 2005, require that the assembly, dismantling or alteration of Mobile Access Towers (Scaffold Towers) should only be undertaken by a competent person, or if being trained, under the supervision of a competent person.

A competent person is someone who can demonstrate that they have sufficient professional or technical training, knowledge, actual experience, and authority to enable them to:-
a. carry out their assigned duties at the level of responsibility allocated to them;
b. understand any potential hazards related to the work (or equipment) under consideration;
c. detect any technical defects or omissions in that work (or equipment),
d. recognise any implications for health and safety caused by those defects or omissions,
e. and be able to specify a remedial action to mitigate those implications.

6. Scaffold Tower stability - use of stabilisers and outriggers
7. Practical session - erect & dismantle tower scaffold

LOCATION
The training centres (or on-site at approved locations - requirements for this to be discussed).
TIMETABLE
The ONE-DAY course starts at approx 9.00am and finishes at approx 4.30 pm. Tea and meal breaks will be taken during the day.
EQUIPMENT REQUIRED BY CANDIDATES
All candidates must have with them on the training day -
1. 2 x passport sized photographs of themselves
2. Their own P.P.E. (i.e. safety helmet, safety boots and protective clothing for the practical session).
3. Their National Insurance Number.
All paper, pens, audio-visual aids etc for theory session and assessment paper will be provided by the instructor.
RESULT
All candidates achieving a satisfactory result will be issued with a CERTIFICATE OF COMPETENCE and an encapsulated, credit card sized PHOTO CARD valid for five years.
